Birth Registration Appointment for Newborn Baby

** PLEASE READ UPDATE **

You are allowed to attend the register office during lockdown to register your baby.

But please do not come to the Register Office unless you have a pre-booked birth appointment.

Please bring the baby's red book (with the sticker on the front) or mother's discharge papers, your passports or another form of ID to help with spelling of names and your debit or credit card to buy certificates. We don't accept cash.

If the parents are not married to each other (or in a legal civil partnership) and are registering baby together, then please arrive together. Otherwise only one parent needs to attend the appointment.

  • You must wear a face covering to enter the building. This is mandatory from 8 August, although some exemptions do apply for those with a disability or health concerns.

  • Please do not bring baby with you or older children as we must limit the number of people inside the building.

  • Toilets will be closed.

  • A one-way system has been implemented inside the building to ensure social distancing can be maintained.

  • Your contact information will be retained for 21-days as part of the NHS Test and Trace.

  • Pens used to sign registration pages will be cleaned with anti-bacterial cleanser in between every registration. But if you prefer, you may bring your own pen (providing its black ink.)
